Community Connect is designed for parents of children in Kindergarten-12th grade in the schools of Forsyth County, Georgia.
Community Connect is an effort to improve the social and emotional well-being of the students and families in the Forsyth County School system. This engaging, event-based, program was created “by parents, for parents." Each Wednesday night during the 2019-2020 school year, the Community Connect team provided a family meal, free child care and a parent forum focused on the issues that parents in the community most want to discuss. Ideas for event topics were solicited from parents of students in the elementary, middle and high school in west Forsyth. The Community Connect team put together a cadre of industry professionals to share insights and guide discussions during each session. These local professionals volunteered their time in service to the children and families in the community. Community Connect seeks to create a place where parents can get information, glean ideas, create relevant solutions for their families and build a network of support. We believe that this network can, and will, result healthier and happier young people.
